The Entrance to Your Home: Remodeling the Foyer
The entrance to your home gives your visitors a first impression of the inside of your home. The foyer should be a functional place and its decoration would generally reflect your design and styles.
For the purpose of indoor remodeling, certain factors need special focusing, for example your color choices, furniture choices as well as accessories. Colors like yellow or green can make your foyer look inviting, especially if the color flows from the walls into the outer spaces. Light shades of colors are advisable, because it will make your foyer look spacious.
Wallpaper is also a good choice for the foyer and the colors used can be those which are used inside the house. Both large patterns and intricate designs can be safely used in the foyer.
In order to draw the visitor’s attention, choose something for the foyer like a large mirror, an attractive painting or a chandelier. Remodeling companies often use mirrors and chandeliers in the foyer to attract light, because it is often dark. Flower arrangements can be eye-catching too, and there may be sculptures, large potted plants, family photographs or even a long carpet.
Make the foyer a convenient and practical place for placing keys and mail or hanging your coat and taking off your shoes. Functional furniture like a round table is space-saving; include drawers in the table to keep your mail. If your foyer is small and narrow, just have a buffet or narrow console table. A coat rack or a bench seat would be ideal too.
The foyer should reflect the family’s personality and interests. Put up a china cabinet or a baker’s rack against a wall, where you can display your collectibles. The items could be family heirlooms, china or travel souvenirs.
